Why So Many MSMEs Get Stuck While Scaling — And What Dr. Yogesh Pawar Has Learned From Helping Hundreds of Businesses Grow

Every entrepreneur starts a business with a vision. Some dream of building a successful company, while others aspire to create wealth, market leadership, or a lasting legacy. In the early years, growth often comes through the founder’s relentless involvement, quick decision-making, and hands-on execution. However, as businesses grow, many MSMEs encounter a common challenge—growth becomes harder, teams become dependent on the founder, profitability fluctuates, and the organization struggles to scale.

According to Dr. Yogesh Pawar, this is one of the most significant growth barriers faced by Indian MSMEs today. Over the past two decades, he has worked closely with hundreds of entrepreneurs and observed that many businesses successfully reach a certain stage but struggle to move beyond it because the business remains dependent on the founder rather than on systems, processes, and leadership structures.

Born and raised in Maharashtra, Dr. Pawar’s professional journey spans corporate leadership, entrepreneurship, consulting, mentoring, and investing. Having worked with organizations such as DHL, Bharti Airtel, Aditya Birla Group, and Telenor, he gained deep insights into business growth, strategic execution, and organizational development. Yet, what fascinated him most was understanding why some businesses scaled sustainably while others remained stuck despite having capable teams and strong market opportunities.

This curiosity eventually led to the establishment of the School of Inspirational Leadership (SIL), a management consulting, execution consulting, and business transformation organization dedicated to helping India’s MSMEs scale through strategy, systems, leadership, and disciplined execution.

However, SIL was envisioned as more than just a consulting firm. Dr. Pawar recognized that while large corporations have access to global consulting giants such as Bain, McKinsey, and BCG, millions of Indian MSMEs lack access to structured growth frameworks, implementation support, and strategic guidance. Through SIL, he is building an institution that aims to bridge this gap and become for India’s MSMEs what these global consulting firms have become for the world’s leading enterprises.

Today, with a network of more than 250 +  consultants across India, SIL provides end-to-end support across strategy, sales, marketing, operations, supply chain, finance, leadership development, business transformation, fundraising, mergers & acquisitions, and IPO readiness. Unlike traditional consulting firms that stop at recommendations, SIL focuses on execution, handholding entrepreneurs through implementation and helping them create measurable business outcomes.

Dr. Pawar’s philosophy remains simple: sustainable growth happens when strategy is supported by disciplined execution. Over the years, he & his consultant army transformed  more than 700 businesses and impacted over 26,000 entrepreneurs, professionals, and business leaders through consulting, mentoring, and leadership development initiatives.

As India’s MSME sector continues to play a critical role in the country’s economic future, Dr. Pawar and SIL are focused on helping entrepreneurs build scalable, professionally managed, investment-ready organizations that create lasting value, generate employment, and grow beyond the founder.
