In an era where people are more digitally connected yet emotionally isolated than ever, a new short film promises to strike a deeply personal chord. Taher Shabbir and Sheena Chohan are set to headline Walls, an upcoming drama directed by Fraser Scott that explores the invisible emotional barriers people build around themselves and the unexpected moments that break them down.

The Plot: Love and Isolation Next Door

Walls tells the story of Monisha, an isolated sound engineer who has barricaded herself away from the world. Her strict deadline and quiet existence are abruptly interrupted when her outgoing new neighbor, Ekansh, begins noisily moving in next door.

What starts as an attempt to shut him up quickly evolves into their first real conversation—despite having lived side-by-side for years. Through this single, unexpected encounter, Monisha slowly begins to lower the emotional walls she has spent years building. The film serves as an intimate exploration of modern isolation, highlighting how two people can exist mere feet apart without truly seeing one another, and how a fleeting moment of vulnerability can change everything.

The Cast on Bringing ‘Walls’ to Life

Both lead actors found deep personal resonance with the script and the characters they portray.

Taher Shabbir, who plays the lively and spontaneous Ekansh, expressed his excitement about stepping into a lighter, more relatable role:

“I loved the vision of the director and the film. After a long time, I played a character who is fun-loving, closer to what I’m like in real life. Sheena was a great co-star to work with, as I’ve always felt she’s a good actor. I also believe that a film is about the people you work with… Because of the people Fraser and Sheena are, is why I said yes to the project.”

Sheena Chohan, who takes on the complex role of Monisha, was drawn to the emotional depth of her character’s journey:

“Monisha is someone who has built walls around herself after experiencing loss, and what drew me to her was the vulnerability beneath her silence. Working with Taher was a wonderful experience — he brought such warmth, spontaneity, and playfulness to Ekansh. I connected deeply with the story because it reflects something so universal: how easy it is to feel alone even when people are physically right beside us.”

A Director’s Vision Rooted in Reality

Writer and director Fraser Scott drew inspiration from his immediate surroundings, using the changing landscape of Mumbai as a metaphor for societal disconnection.

“I wrote Walls as the old walls of Versova give way to taller ones, inspiring me to explore what these crumbling structures represent as barriers between people and the loneliness of modern life. I was grateful this story connected immediately with Taher, Sheena, and the team, who brought it to life.”

Production and Release Plans

Walls is backed by a strong creative team, ensuring a high-quality cinematic experience.

  • Co-Producers: Vedic Productions and RAT Films

  • Creative Producer: Sam Das

  • Director of Photography: Pranjal Picha

  • Music: Prashant Ingole

  • Voice Talent: Suchitra Pillai (lending her voice to the film’s antagonist)

The production team is highly optimistic about the film’s trajectory. “We have a great cast led by Sheena Chohan and Taher Shabbir, who will ignite the screen in this drama with layers of depth,” the producers stated. “Walls is a story rooted in real human experiences and reflects something deeply relevant to the world we live in today.”

Currently in post-production, Walls is gearing up for a national release and a run across the international film festival circuit, followed by an eventual OTT release.
