Actress Raveena Tandon inaugurated Nayika: Recreating the Essence of Feminine by Vishal Sablley, in the presence of Vastu Mahaguru Basant R Rasiwasia and eminent artists of the likes of Kiran Chopra, Om Thadkar, Mamta Sharma, Pravin Gangurde, curator Ritu Chopra, Rutuja Padwal, sculptor Kiran Mahale, Gallerist Meenu De, photographer-author Fawzan Husain, Dr (Hon) Anusha Srinivasan Iyer among others. Vishal Sablley’s series of creations that depict the divinity in women through the different Nayikas that is Goddesses of Indian mythology like Durga, Tripura Sundari, Lakshmi, Bramhini, Saraswati among others.

Nayika: Recreating the Essence of Feminine at Jehangir Art Gallery from December 31 to January 6.m marks Sablley’s second solo showcase at the esteemed gallery, following his previous exhibition that delved into similar themes of feminine strength and Indian identity.

With a career spanning over 16 years, Sablley has dedicated his artistry to exploring the dynamic spirit of the Nayika—a force embodying beauty, resilience, and empowerment. His latest collection draws inspiration from goddess archetypes such as Durga, Lakshmi, Tripurasundari, Sita, and Parvati, as well as enigmatic symbols like the Yoginis and Yakshinis, bridging India’s mythological heritage with contemporary identity.

“This exhibition is not just a recreation of mystical tales but a reflection of the timeless feminine spirit,” Sablley explains. “Each painting invites viewers to explore how these narratives resonate in our lives today.”

Sablley’s artistic journey has been shaped by accolades and encouragement from luminaries like M.F. Hussain and S.H. Raza. A recipient of the Young Artist Scholarship Award from the Ministry of Culture, he has also been recognized at the All India Art Exhibition organized by Lokmat Media. These milestones have infused his work with a profound connection to India’s cultural legacy.

Through Nayika: Recreating the Essence of Feminine, Sablley aims to ignite curiosity and foster a connection between the ancient and the modern. The exhibition offers a visual journey through India’s rich cultural landscape, celebrating feminine strength as a cornerstone of identity.

The exhibition will be open to the public at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, from December 31 to January 6. Art enthusiasts and cultural connoisseurs are encouraged to immerse themselves in this evocative tribute to the feminine spirit.
