April, 2026: The HRM Department of ITM Business School successfully organized a World Café event aimed at fostering meaningful discussions on internships and bridging the gap between academic learning and industry expectations. The event served as an interactive platform where students actively engaged with experts and peers to gain deeper insights into the dynamics of professional environments.

The event was uniquely designed in a rotating format, allowing participants to move across different discussion tables every 15 minutes. Each table focused on a distinct theme related to internships, ensuring that attendees were exposed to a wide range of perspectives. This innovative approach not only kept the sessions dynamic but also provided participants with the opportunity to interact with multiple speakers and gain comprehensive knowledge on various aspects of internship experiences.

Throughout the event, several important lessons emerged that are crucial for succeeding in internships. Experts emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism in the workplace, highlighting practices such as avoiding workplace gossip, demonstrating confidence, setting clear personal and professional boundaries, and ensuring effective communication through official channels. These insights equipped participants with practical strategies to navigate workplace challenges more effectively.

“Events like the World Café play a crucial role in preparing students for the realities of the professional world. By creating a platform for open dialogue, experiential learning, and industry interaction, we enable our students to develop not just knowledge, but the confidence, professionalism, and adaptability required to succeed in their internships and future careers,” said Dr. Lakshmi Mohan, Director, ITM Business School & Pro VC, ITM Skills University.

In addition to professional conduct, the significance of networking and building meaningful professional relationships was strongly reinforced. Participants were encouraged to cultivate connections that could support their career growth and open doors to future opportunities.

Overall, the World Café event proved to be highly insightful and enriching for all attendees. Its interactive and participatory format enabled active knowledge sharing and meaningful dialogue, leaving students better prepared to step into the professional world with confidence and clarity about internship expectations and challenges.
