New Delhi, August 13, 2026: Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji unveiled AkinAnalytics’ indigenous NIKA2 Kisan Medium Drone in New Delhi, marking a significant moment for India’s women-led DeepTech ecosystem and homegrown agricultural technology. Developed by AkinAnalytics, a MeitY-supported Indian DeepTech and Defence technology startup led by founder and CEO Janaki Pulaparthi, the drone was demonstrated before the Union Minister, who witnessed its capabilities and encouraged the company’s technology-driven approach to modern farming.

The unveiling assumes added significance as AkinAnalytics represents the growing participation of women entrepreneurs in India’s advanced technology sector. Led by a Computer Science Engineer and ISB alumna, the company is building indigenous drone and AI-enabled solutions for agriculture, environmental operations, infrastructure, energy, mining and defence. The opportunity extended by Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji to witness and unveil the NIKA2 platform places the spotlight on the potential of women-led enterprises to develop technology aligned with national priorities, particularly in agriculture and rural development.

NIKA2 has been engineered as a multi-purpose agricultural drone designed to combine spraying and spreading capabilities on a single platform. The Kisan Medium Drone carries a 16-litre spraying payload and a 13-kg spreading payload, with the ability to cover approximately three acres in a single sortie, depending on operating conditions. Its terrain-following technology is designed to support operations across varying and undulating landscapes, including applications such as tea-estate spraying. The platform also incorporates night-operation capability and advanced fail-safe features aimed at enhancing operational reliability and safety.

Beyond crop spraying, NIKA2 has been developed to address a wider range of agricultural requirements. Its spreading capability can support seeds and granules, while its multi-payload architecture allows farmers and operators to use the same drone platform for different field operations. The technology also has potential applications in aquaculture, including feed distribution across fish and shrimp ponds. By reducing the physical effort involved in repetitive agricultural activities and enabling faster, more precise operations, the drone seeks to bring greater efficiency to farm-level activities.

AkinAnalytics’ technology journey has also extended beyond agriculture. In Andhra Pradesh, the company has deployed drones for large-scale afforestation activities involving aerial seed-ball dispersal across forest landscapes. The initiative demonstrated how drone technology can be used to execute environmental interventions at scale. The company also operates a DGCA-authorised Remote Pilot Training Organisation at Amalapuram, Andhra Pradesh, supporting drone skilling and creating opportunities for rural entrepreneurship. Its innovation ecosystem has received support through programmes including NIDHI PRAYAS, Startup India Seed Fund Scheme, MeitY SAMRIDH and the iDEX defence innovation ecosystem, alongside participation in Stanford Seed Spark.

The unveiling of NIKA2 by Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji therefore represents more than the presentation of an agricultural drone. It highlights the convergence of Naari Shakti, indigenous technology, DeepTech entrepreneurship and technology-led agriculture. For AkinAnalytics, the ministerial demonstration provides a national platform for its homegrown innovation and underscores the expanding role of women entrepreneurs in building solutions for Indian farmers. With NIKA2, the company is positioning indigenous drone technology as a practical tool for improving agricultural productivity, operational efficiency and rural technology adoption.
