New Delhi, March 26, 2026: GAIL (India) Limited has announced an investment of ₹130 million to acquire a 49% equity stake in Leafiniti Bioenergy Private Limited, a subsidiary of TruAlt Bioenergy Limited. TruAlt will retain the remaining 51% stake in the venture.

The joint initiative will focus on developing multiple greenfield Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants across Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Odisha. In the initial phase, six plants will be established, each with a production capacity of 12 tonnes per day, resulting in a combined annual output of 23,976 tonnes of CBG.

Beyond biogas production, the facilities are expected to generate 97,902 tonnes of Fermented Organic Manure and 470,862 tonnes of Liquid Fermented Organic Manure annually, contributing to sustainable agricultural practices.

The project is also set to create significant employment opportunities, with an estimated 820 to 1,225 jobs expected to be generated across locations.

Additionally, the initiative is projected to displace approximately 19,800 tonnes of fossil fuels and reduce methane emissions by around 9,300 tonnes annually, supporting environmental sustainability goals.

This strategic investment highlights GAIL’s continued commitment to advancing clean energy solutions and strengthening India’s green bioenergy ecosystem.
